God weighs the motive of every man’s endeavor. Out of the heart springs the desire of every person to get into action.
It was her ardent wish to help those children who comes to her school with learning disabilities, that motivated Ma. Veronica Quintana- Arioder to come up with a revolutionary reading program.
Teacher Vicky as she is fondly called by people around her, is quite sure that the reading program that she has developed, will also be effective with children having reading difficulties. Her intentions in developing the reading program then, was simply to make her son, Yani learn how to read the fast way . She was just starting then to put up her school in a rented garage. Her hands were full so her husband Jun, had to takeover teaching Yani. It was at this time that they tried to come up with a much faster way of making a child read. After so many research studies and improvements they finally came up with the program “Read in Twenty Days”. The company had been operating for 16 years to date but only started to franchise their program last 2015. Presently, there are 41 franchisees in different parts of the Philippines, and 5 in other countries.
Realizing that every year more and more parents are seeking assistance on how they will be able to solve their children’s learning needs and challenges, Teacher Vicky, once more came up with a program that intends to enable young people with dyslexia, to maximize their learning opportunities.
She decided to take up a Diploma Course in Dyslexia at Blackford Centre for Dyslexia in UK, London. She proudly graduated with High Distinction Award.
Beyond empowerment, we need more women of significance who answer the needs of the youth to overcome their learning difficulties. Teacher Vicky fulfills those needs as she extends her influence to all the people working with her . From a couple, Jun and Vicky built a company, which now includes their two elder children and many more kind-hearted individuals who share their compassion to carry out their vision and mission.
The power of flight of eagles come from the winds beneath their wings so the song goes. Teacher Jun provided not only the wind beneath the wings of Teacher Vicky but also the direction of her flight. Together they came up with a program that challenged the obsolete reading practices that we still adapt to this time. While Teacher Vicky’s strength was in the development of the reading program, Teacher Jun made a business out of it. He is the brains and presently the CEO, of the very fast growing educational franchise,” The Instant Reader”. This business grew from zero to an arrow of continuous growth and development to the people it serves.
From an ordinary tutorial practice, this program turned out to be an extraordinary adventure of exploring the capabilities of our youth to overcome their learning difficulties. All children who had the opportunity to use this program can testify on its effectiveness, not only on their reading abilities but more so on boosting their self-esteem and increasing their self-confidence. These are the necessary traits that serve as foundation of every child’s journey through life and learning. Parents and guardians who enrolled their children in this reading program are very grateful as they witness how their children become motivated thus raising up their capacity to learn even more.
